I write this to encourage you. I hope it helps you see what pointing to Jesus can look like in a normal day. As you can tell by my morning this morning, no day is a normal day when God is at work in people.
My morning today at It's a Grind.
1. I walked into It's a Grind. The conversation at the counter was about the inability for a friend working behind the counter to have kids. My wife and I were told we wouldn't have kids so I pointed to Jesus, his grace in letting us have kids when it looked as if we wouldn't. I pointed to God's ability to change people on many levels. These kinds of conversations have been ongoing, it's cool.
2. Five minutes later one of the employees came to my table giving me a phone number to a dude who spilled his life to her a month earlier. She had no words to help but told him she thought I really would be able to help. When she came to my table she said that this guys wife is saying God told her to divorce. I looked at her and said, "That really doesn't sound like God, does it?" She doesn't know for sure but it's not what she thinks God would be like if he is real. Another moment to point to Jesus and what he is like.
3. I called the dude. He is mixed up because he doesn't understand how God could tell his wife to divorce him. We made plans to hang out.
4. About 20 minutes later a guy I have seen in It's a Grind several time sat next to me. He asked me some questions about my Mac (Mac's bring people together). As I was showing him the wonders of Mac he saw an e-mail from William Jessup (Christian private College in town), and asked if I went there. I said no but I am a teacher. I told him I teach the Bible at this church that meets right here at The Grind. I told him it's like it's a live. He said he should come, as the universe was speaking to him. I think it's God. He said he would be there because he's looking for something. I said "Cool see you Sunday".
5. Bumped into Nancy out front while returning to The Grind after lunch. She's about 60. She says she follow Jesus, we have talked several times about her addictions and who really was Jesus. I told her I haven't seen her in a while. As it turns out her husband was diagnosed with cancer. She said she's trusting God and asked if I would be praying. I asked if I could pray right now. I prayed that God would heal her husband of the cancer and healing to the cancer of sin by believing in Jesus. She said thank you.
John the baptist said, "I'm a voice crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord."
We are just a voice. If a voice doesn't says anything, it can't be heard.
